Dear Diary,

I thought that coming to America would be a positive thing for our family, and in some cases, it is. But the life we have here is pretty tough for a 13 year old girl like me. I have to help Mom make and wash our clothes, milk the cows with my brothers and sisters, and make food for our entire family. Well, lately we've been eating a lot less than we use to. I asked Mom why, but she scolded me and told me that we should be thankful for what we have, because some people don't even get to eat three meals a day. Usually, Dad does most of the farm work, but he had to get a job at a factory about 10 miles away. He leaves right at dawn and comes back at around 7:00 PM, and he's usually all pooped up that he eats and goes straight to bed. Mom and my brothers have to farm now. Life is hard, but we bless God for everything He's given us. Hopefully, all this hard work pays off someday.

Love,

Ayla
